HOLISTIC HEALTHCARE

Services

  • Chinese medicine is a traditional and holistic healthcare practise that uses different techniques and natural remedies to bring balance to the mind and the body. During a Chinese Medicine constellation, Jarryd will decide whether your specific healthcare complaint requires acupuncture, herbal medicine, massage, gua sha, cupping or other healing remedies to restore balance to your condition.

  • Acupuncture is a fundamental part of Chinese Medicine that involves inserting thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body to stimulate energy flow, balance the body’s energy and promote healing.

Acupuncture is commonly used to address various health issues, including pain management (such as back pain, headaches, and arthritis), stress reduction, anxiety, depression, insomnia, digestive disorders, allergies, reproductive health concerns and more.

Jarryd is trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine but is currently practising a Classical Lineage of Acupuncture, using the complement channels as taught by Jeffrey Yuan. In addition to Acupuncture, he often works with Moxibustion heat therapy, cupping, gua sha and blood letting to help restore balance to the mind and body.

  • Shiatsu is a form of Japanese bodywork therapy that involves applying pressure to specific points on the body using the fingers, palms, elbows, knees, or feet. The word "shiatsu" translates to "finger pressure" in Japanese, reflecting the central technique of this therapy.

Shiatsu is based on traditional Chinese medicine principles, thus working with both the mind and the body to bring harmony to the entire being.

Jarryd offers a unique approach to bodywork that combines a blend of his studies in Zenthai, Shiatsu, and Tui Na massage. Massage takes place on a futon and is often fully clothed.

  • Chinese herbal medicine is a traditional system of medicine that has been practiced in China for thousands of years. It involves the use of natural substances, primarily herbs and plant extracts, to treat various health conditions and promote overall well-being.

In Chinese herbal medicine, practitioners use a combination of herbs tailored to each individual's specific health needs.

All formulas take into account factors such as the individual's constitution, symptoms, and underlying patterns of disharmony.

Herbal ingredients are selected not only for their therapeutic properties but also for their interactions with other ingredients in the formula to enhance efficacy and minimise side effects.

During a Chinese Medicine consultation, Jarryd will decide whether herbal medicine is necessary for your healing and is therefore only used if necessary for your specific case.

  • Gua sha is a traditional healing technique that involves scraping the skin with a smooth-edged tool, often made of jade, horn, or a spoon, to stimulate circulation and promote healing. The term "gua sha" translates to "scraping sha" in Chinese, with "sha" referring to the redness that appear on the skin as a result of the scraping.

Gua sha is often used on different parts of the body to stimulate Qi flow, increase circulation, remove stagnant heat and to release stagnant Qi and Blood from the channels, muscles and tissues.

Gua sha is often used to relieve muscle tension, pain, and stiffness, as well as to promote detoxification, reduce inflammation, and support the immune system.

  • Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine that involves placing special cups on the skin to create suction. This suction is used facilitate healing by increasing blood flow, relieving muscle tension, improving circulation and promoting overall relaxation.

Once the cups are placed on the skin, they may be left in position for several minutes or moved around to massage specific areas, a technique referred to as “sliding cups”. After the treatment, temporary discoloration or bruising may occur, which is often attributed to the release of toxins and stagnant blood from the body.
